If you want to solve a problem, you must spend 80% of your energy dissecting and identifying the problem, and the remaining 20% to find solutions, which is actually sufficient.
Ray Dalio mentioned in "Principles" how to enter a positive feedback loop; the method of solving problems and making progress must be a spiral upward, rather than a straight line upward——
The spiral involves five steps:
1) First ask the purpose, set goals: Requires deep thinking, integration, observation, and optimization skills;
2) Identify the problem and have zero tolerance:
Requires insight, zero tolerance for adverse situations, and comprehensive ability;
3) Diagnose the problem, locate the issue, identify the root cause:
Requires high logic, willingness to "touch the nerve," and discovering multiple possibilities;
4) Design a plan, eliminate the problem:
Requires insight, practicality, and creativity;
5) Execute the plan: Requires self-discipline, good work habits, results-oriented, and foresight.
This process requires us to view the problem itself or our own situation as a series of results produced by a machine.
Engage in higher-level thinking by overseeing your machine and contemplating how to change it to create better outcomes.
