In a cave, there lived an elderly couple, and their life was extremely difficult.
One day, suddenly an old immortal appeared and said to the elderly couple: 'I can give you a luxurious house, several acres of fertile land, and countless treasures of gold and silver, ensuring you have no worries about food and clothing. However, there is a broken bowl in the house which is covered and cannot be opened. If you open it, I will take back your wealth and glory.'
The couple nodded repeatedly, promising never to open it. In an instant, a luxurious house appeared beside the elderly couple, and they immediately began to live a life of luxury and abundance. Before long, the couple thought, was there more treasure in that broken bowl? So they turned the bowl over. But there was nothing in the bowl!
At this moment, the old immortal suddenly appeared and angrily said to the elderly couple: 'You live without worries about food and clothing, yet you are so greedy that you cannot even keep a promise regarding an empty bowl.'
Then, the house, treasures of gold and silver, and the old immortal all disappeared, and the elderly couple returned to their impoverished life, living forever in regret and mutual blame.
Revelation: Greed is not a way to acquire wealth, but a way to lose it. When you have enough wealth, be content and avoid greed; otherwise, you may lose everything you currently possess.
