In the same year, the London police seized four devices from Jianwen and Zhang Yadi's then residence safe and a property, which contained as many as 61,000 BTC. By 2021, when the police successfully decrypted this Bitcoin, its value had soared to 1.4 billion pounds (approximately 1.77 billion dollars), making it one of the largest cryptocurrency seizures in the world. If calculated at current prices, it amounts to as high as 2.6 billion dollars.
Currently, Jianwen's trial is still ongoing, and she refuses to plead guilty, claiming that she believed Zhang Yadi's source of Bitcoin was legal. However, the prosecution pointed out that Jianwen should have known that these funds were illegally obtained, one piece of evidence being her deliberate avoidance of travel to countries with extradition treaties with China. The absence of an extradition agreement between China and the UK adds complexity to the handling of the case. It is worth mentioning that despite rumors that Qian Zhiming has been wanted, searches using different names such as Qian Zhiming, Qian Zhimin, and Qian Zhimin have failed to find related case reports. It is indeed astonishing that one person could successfully take away 6.3 billion dollars.
