According to Pravda, Ukraine plans to officially legalize cryptocurrency in the first quarter of 2025. The related bill was jointly drafted by a parliamentary working group along with the National Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and is expected to be submitted for the first round of review after the New Year. According to Danylo Hetmantsev, Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, cryptocurrency will adopt a tax model similar to that of securities, where profits will be taxed when the assets are converted into fiat currency, and there will be no tax incentives. In November 2023, Ukraine registered the bill on the taxation of virtual asset transactions, and the passage of this bill will be the final step towards the legalization of cryptocurrency.
