According to ChainCatcher, Cointelegraph reported that Solana Foundation's strategic head Austin Federa has left the project to co-found a new protocol and network called DoubleZero, aimed at managing high-performance, permissionless networks.
In a statement on December 4 on X, Federa mentioned that leaving after four years at Solana was 'one of the hardest career decisions I had to make,' but the new role will allow him to still participate in the network 'from a different perspective.'
According to Federa, his new project DoubleZero is not an L1 or L2 protocol, but a new type of global base layer network optimized for blockchain, aimed at increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.
