Former Head of the SEC's Crypto and Cyber Division, Jorge Tenreiro, has been promoted to Chief Litigation Counsel, responsible for leading the SEC’s litigation and investigation work. His appointment comes just weeks after the Trump administration took over the White House. Tenreiro joined the SEC's Crypto and Cyber Division in 2022, served as Deputy Director, and took over as Division Director in June 2023. He led the SEC’s lawsuits against major crypto industry players including Kraken, Coinbase, Tron, and Ripple Labs, and was involved in the FTX case and the settlement with Terraform Labs and its former CEO Do Kwon, which resulted in a historic settlement of $4.47 billion for the SEC.
