According to PANews on December 3, Jorge Tenreiro, the former head of the SEC's Crypto and Cyber Division, has been promoted to Chief Litigation Counsel, responsible for leading the SEC's litigation and investigation efforts. His appointment comes just weeks after the Trump administration took over the White House.
Tenreiro joined the SEC's Crypto and Cyber Division in 2022, previously serving as Deputy Director and taking over as Division Chief in June 2023. He led the SEC's lawsuits against several major players in the crypto industry, including Kraken, Coinbase, Tron, and Ripple Labs, and was involved in the FTX case and the settlement with Terraform Labs and its former CEO Do Kwon, which brought the SEC a historic settlement amount of $4.47 billion.
