According to sources, President-elect Trump is considering nominating BakerHostetler partner and co-head of the blockchain team Teresa Goody Guillén as one of the candidates for chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Goody Guillén previously worked at the SEC and dealt with matters related to blockchain companies and traditional businesses with the agency. She is believed to potentially advocate for a light-touch regulatory approach by the SEC. Other candidates for SEC chair include Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP partner Robert Stebbins, Paul Hastings partner Brad Bondi, former SEC commissioner Paul Atkins, Robinhood chief legal officer Dan Gallagher, and former Acting Comptroller of the Currency Brian Brooks.
