According to a report by Bloomberg, Roman Sterlingov, the founder of Bitcoin Fog, was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison for laundering tens of millions of dollars from illegal drug transactions. The 36-year-old Sterlingov was sentenced to 150 months in federal court in Washington on Friday, with charges including operating the 'largest and longest-running' money laundering service. Sterlingov provided cryptocurrency mixing services through Bitcoin Fog to obscure the sources of illegal transactions. Prosecutors had sought a 30-year sentence, accusing him of lying during the trial and denying operating the service. Defense attorneys argued that the sentence should not exceed seven and a half years.
