Detroit city officials announced Thursday that the city will become the largest in the U.S. to accept cryptocurrency for payments. Residents will be able to use crypto to pay taxes and other city fees through a secure platform managed by PayPal. The option will be available in mid-2025, along with other improvements to the city's payment services, said Chief Financial Officer Nikhil Patel. The move is part of a larger strategy by the city of Detroit to explore innovative technologies that can improve public services, increase civic engagement and boost economic growth. Three U.S. states currently accept cryptocurrency for state government fees: Colorado, Utah and Louisiana. (TheBlock)
