According to Cointelegraph, a man posing as an Uber driver in Scottsdale, Arizona was arrested for allegedly stealing a total of $300,000 in cryptocurrency from two passengers.

Police said Nuruhussein Hussein picked up the victim outside the W Hotel in Scottsdale and used their phone to transfer cryptocurrency to a cold wallet. One of the victims was threatened when they became suspicious.

Hussein was arrested on December 11 and faces charges of theft, fraud, and money laundering. A judge approved a $200,000 bail and electronic monitoring, prohibiting him from using the internet and traveling abroad.

According to GitHub, at least 19 offline cryptocurrency robbery incidents occurred last year. The most recent one happened on December 3, when thieves stole a Bitcoin ATM in Melbourne, Australia.
