According to Foresight News, Starknet announced on X that due to adjustments in its roadmap, the optimization update initially planned for version 0.13.3 will be postponed to version 0.13.4, expected to be released in February 2025. This update is anticipated to significantly impact developers and project builders in several ways.
Firstly, there will be changes to the ERC-20 event structure. The new OpenZeppelin ERC20 standard will modify the event structure by adding indexed fields for 'from/to' and 'owner/spender'. Support for the original event structure will gradually be phased out, and developers are advised to support both the new and old event structures promptly.
Secondly, support for RPC versions below v0.7 will be discontinued. Starknet nodes will only support version 0.7 and above, requiring developers to ensure they are using the latest version.
Additionally, there will be updates to the Starknet Wallet and DApp API. The new version will decouple the dependencies between the wallet, DApp, and Starknet.js, alongside the release of an updated starknet-js (version 6.9.0 or higher). Developers are advised to use WalletAccount instead of Account to ensure compatibility with the new API.
Starknet officials recommend completing these updates as soon as possible to avoid compatibility issues.
