According to The Block, Ethereum-based decentralized messaging platform Status is partnering with Consensys-backed Linea to launch a Layer 2 rollup solution. Status raised $100 million for its native SNT token during its 2017 ICO. Linea, a zkEVM Layer 2 blockchain, was introduced last year with support from blockchain development company Consensys.

The two entities are jointly developing a Layer 2 network called Status Network, which will operate alongside Linea's zkEVM chain. Cyprien Grau, a core contributor at Status, stated, 'By launching Status Network, we aim to create the necessary infrastructure to support a thriving ecosystem of decentralized applications and services.'

Status contributors will engage with Linea's open-source code, actively participating in its codebase to manage parallel versions. The Status team will also support ongoing engineering efforts on Linea, focusing on diversifying client and prover support and ensuring interoperability between Status Network and Linea. The collaboration will emphasize decentralizing Linea's sequencing and proving processes and will support initiatives in public funding, social applications, GameFi, and governance experiments.
