According to CoinDesk, Polyhedra Network has introduced a new platform called 'Proof Arena' to serve as a testing ground for cryptographic 'provers' in the blockchain space. The initiative aims to provide a controlled environment where developers can evaluate the performance of various proof systems for specific proof generation tasks.

Polyhedra Network recently released an open-source zero-knowledge proof system that was nearly twice as fast as existing alternatives. However, the team sought a more scientific method to validate these claims, leading to the development of Proof Arena. Eric Vreeland, Polyhedra's chief strategy officer, emphasized that the platform allows ZK-proof system creators to compare their systems against others while maintaining constant controllable variables.

Proof Arena will generate benchmarks for Polyhedra's 'Expander' ZK-proof system, Polygon's Plonky3, StarkWare's Stwo, and Linea's Gnark. The platform will support all open-source proof systems and provide benchmarks for common ZK tasks like Keccak and Poseidon hash verification on various machine configurations. This initiative is expected to offer cryptographers a valuable tool to assess and improve their systems.
