Coinspeaker ZKsync-powered L2 ZKcandy by iCandy Raises $4 Million to Revolutionize Web3 Gaming
ZKcandy, a layer 2 blockchain built for gaming, has announced the successful completion of a $4 million private funding round. The ZKsync-powered protocol shared the update in a Monday announcement, hinting at the list of high-profile investors that took part in the round.
According to the company, it saw investments from Wemix Pte. Ltd., Animoca Ventures, Spartan Group, Efficient Frontier, Flowdesk, and many others. The round also saw notable contributions from angel investors and individuals from well-known organizations like Stacks, Analog, and Mittaria.
ZKcandy Eyes Web3 Gaming Revolution
It might be worth noting that the priority of ZKcandy, especially now that it has secured the latest financial backing, is to reshape Web3 gaming. At least, the blockchain already runs with this same ambition.
So, with the recent funding, the platform now has the financial power to execute its plans and deliver brilliant innovations on the Web3 gaming front.
Meanwhile, it is expected that the ambitions of ZKcandy for Web3 gaming will come to fruition quickly. That is, considering the fact that the project is operated by iCandy, a company highly reputable for its expertise in gaming.
The relevance that this reality holds is that iCandy owns Lemon Sky Studios, and has contributed greatly to popular games such as The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Final Fantasy XVI.
Firm Shares Its Roadmap
In line with its plans for the future of gaming, ZKcandy has shared a roadmap that includes building a Telegram-based EVM gaming ecosystem. The company also says that, with the new fund, it will work with intellectual property holders and develop AI agents focused on gaming.
Part of the fund will also be used to seek partnerships and prepare for the platform’s mainnet launch, which is slated to take place within the first half of this year.
Speaking about the funding round that just got concluded, ZKcandy CEO Lau Kin Wai notes that the ultimate goal is clear. His statement reads:
“Our goal is to make web3 gaming more open and accessible to everyone.”
The blockchain’s focus on gaming is why it recruited an expert in that field, in the person of William Croisettier last year. Its efforts might already be paying off, though, as the platform presently boasts over 25 game titles in various stages of development.
Considering all these, it appears that ZKcandy seeks to position itself as an undisputed leader in a web3 gaming market that is fast evolving.
