Since its launch in October, the project has been running on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet.
The network will use Rollup-Boost, a verifiable block-building platform created by Flashbots.
According to Uniswap, the developers of Unichain, a Layer 2 solution with an emphasis on DeFi that is based on the OP Stack, are targeting the launch of their public mainnet in early 2025.
Since its launch in October, the project has been running on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet. Which has handled over 4 million test contracts and 50 million test transactions. The Sepolia testnet has consistently maintained an uptime of more than 99% for all important services, according to Uniswap’s assessment.
Enhanced Security and Features
Unichain Sepolia is scheduled to trigger the permissionless fault proofs during planned maintenance starting January 6, 2025. Permissionless fault proofs will be included by the developers from the very first day of Unichain’s mainnet launch.
This feature enhances the network’s security by enabling any participant to verify the provided state of a blockchain and contest incorrect withdrawals. Users are able to contest possibly fraudulent or inaccurate transactions using fault proofs. Which function as a method for Ethereum Layer 2 networks.
Public access to the mainnet will be granted after all necessary maintenance and safety validations have been completed. In this stage, users will be able to bridge their funds to the network and begin using Unichain-based apps.
New features are in the works for after the mainnet launch, and one of the most talked-about is Flashblocks, which aim to significantly lower block times to 250 milliseconds, making transactions almost instantaneous.
Unichain is introducing the Unichain Validation Network, a decentralized network of node operators who validate the most recent blockchain state independently, to reduce the dangers of single-sequencer architectures. To further ensure the security of Unichain, the network will use Rollup-Boost, a verifiable block-building platform created by Flashbots.
