If you just buy and hold one thing in that time it’s probably 1000. What are you “trading” for?

I started investing about 3 or 4 months ago with $250. Through a few trades during these months, I managed to increase it to $380 without taking on excessive risks. My question is, am I doing a poor job? Note: I'm a beginner.
