8,100 banks and financial institutions brace for major fallout as hackers uncover major darknet data breach:Report-Daily Hodl
Thousands of banks and financial institutions around the world are bracing for more third-party data breaches.
Financial giant Finastra has confirmed that it has detected suspicious activity in its internal file transfer system. Finastra works with 50 financial institutions, including 45 of the world's 8,100 largest banks. According to Forbes, initial indications are that the leak may involve sensitive data of large banking customers, including financial records and transaction details.
Confidential information about Finastra's operations and services may also have been compromised.
Finastra sent a letter to customers warning them of the ongoing investigation.
While the investigation is ongoing, the affected systems remain isolated. We believe this case only involved this system, and at this time there is no other evidence to suggest any changes outside of this system. We are also currently working on a list of customers who may be affected and are reviewing all information. If we find that files related to your organization have been deleted, we will notify you.
Finastra provides software solutions to help banks and financial institutions manage their operations.
