The petition states that Roger Ver, often referred to as “Bitcoin Jesus,” is being unjustly targeted due to his pro-freedom and pro-privacy stance and outspoken advocacy for cryptocurrency. According to the petition, Ver is currently held in Spain where he neither resides nor speaks the language, as the U.S. government attempts to prosecute him.

Aaron Day argues that the charges against Ver, stemming from his 2014 expatriation from the U.S., are unjust and lack substantial evidence. Aaron Day’s petition highlights Ver’s pioneering contributions to cryptocurrency, noting his early investments in companies like Bitcoin.com, Ripple, and Kraken. It asserts that Ver has consistently complied with tax laws in good faith and that the murky legal landscape surrounding cryptocurrency at the time of his expatriation complicates matters.

“The case against Roger Ver is full of holes and failures on the side of the U.S. Government including the IRS,” explained the crypto proponent David Shares. “The real reason that they are trying to extradite and put Roger in a cage is because of his anti-government stance and views on freedom, so they want to make an example of him because in the eyes of the public, he is ‘Bitcoin Jesus.’”

One does not simply become Bitcoin Jesus and the likes of the Biden (and Harris) Administration just look the other way.

Day’s change.org petition calls for an unconditional pardon and for all charges to be dropped, emphasizing that the prosecution of Ver sets a dangerous precedent for innovators in emerging industries. Supporters of the petition are encouraged to sign, share it, and raise awareness on social media. Day appeals to those who believe in innovation and financial freedom to rally behind Ver, who has championed decentralized finance and cryptocurrency adoption.
