Polkadot has officially released its Agile Coretime framework. This framework is a part of Polkadot’s 2.0 upgrade, which aims to improve resource management and efficiency across the network.

Polkadot is a blockchain platform that enables different blockchains to communicate and share security. It operates through a system of parachains—independent blockchains that work alongside the main Polkadot Chain, which manages security and consensus.
What is Agile Coretime?
The Agile Coretime framework introduces a new way for projects to obtain computational resources on the Polkadot network. In the past, projects needed to lease resources through an auction-based system that required two-year commitments. This system could be challenging for smaller projects or for those with fluctuating resource needs.
With Polkadot Agile Coretime, developers can now choose between two methods to acquire resources:
On-demand purchasing: Suitable for smaller projects with variable needs, allowing them to buy resources as required.
Bulk purchasing: Larger or more established projects can buy blockspace in advance for up to 28 days. These bulk transactions are represented as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which provide a more flexible approach to resource management.
Coretime Chain, a specialized parachain, is responsible for overseeing the purchase, renewal, and distribution of resources. Meanwhile, the Polkadot Chain continues to handle overall network security and cross-chain communication.
How Does Polkadot Agile Coretime Help Developers?
Agile Coretime also represents a shift from long-term commitments to more flexible resource management. In particular, projects now have the option to adjust their resource usage based on their needs, rather than being locked into long-term leases. This may lower barriers to entry for new projects, while giving established projects more control over their resource planning.
Notably, following the official announcement of its Agile Coretime framework, Polkadot’s native token (DOT) saw a 2.99% increase, reaching $4.33.
