According to Odaily, Taiko announced on X that the team is working on upgrading its rollup protocol to version 1.9.0 and preparing for Ontake, the first fork of the Taiko BCR protocol. Ontake will bring several enhancements to Taiko L2, including improved L2 EIP-1559, preliminary support for transaction re-confirmation, batch support, and Calldata for contract proposers.
The enhanced L2 EIP-1559 will allow base fees to be adjustable on L1, with all related parameters eventually managed by L1's DAO. This upgrade aims to provide more flexibility and efficiency in fee management. Preliminary support for transaction re-confirmation will enable block proposers to build multiple blocks deterministically without first submitting old blocks to L1, streamlining the block proposal process.
Batch support will allow blocks to be proposed and proven as a batch, opening the door for proof aggregation, which is expected to further reduce Gas costs. Additionally, Calldata for contract proposers will enable proposers to use Calldata without signature verification. This means that when using Calldata for data availability, the proposer can be either a contract or an EOA, enhancing the versatility and efficiency of data handling in the network.
