The popular Telegram game Catizen is set to launch its CATI token on The Open Network (TON) on September 20, 2024. Along with the token launch, an airdrop is expected to take place. On Tuesday, the game’s developer, Pluto Studio, revealed the criteria for players to be eligible for the airdrop.

Out of the 35.8 million players who have participated in Catizen, less than half have qualified for the airdrop so far. To be eligible, players must have accumulated enough in-game vKitty coins to reach the "Silver League." As of Tuesday, over 15.2 million players are eligible for the airdrop, while the remaining 20 million are still ineligible, stuck in the "Bronze League."

A post on the official Catizen community on Telegram encouraged players to take action, stating, “Grab this last moment to join in Catizen!” The message appeared to urge players to either start playing or improve their standing in the game to qualify for the rewards.

The accompanying graphic shows the breakdown of players in different leagues: nearly 12.7 million in Silver, over 2 million in Gold, around 320,000 in Platinum, 76,000 in Diamond, and 108,000 in the Master League. Only 10,505 players have reached the top "Royal League," likely making them eligible for the largest airdrops. However, specific token allocation details have not yet been disclosed.

Catizen, a simple matching puzzle game built within Telegram, allows players to match similar cats in a virtual cat cafe. Players unlock higher-level cats and earn more in-game currency, which will grant them allocations of the upcoming CATI token.

While the airdrop date is unclear, the CATI token launch is confirmed for September 20, with major exchanges such as OKX, HashKey, and KuCoin expected to list the token. Some exchanges have already started offering pre-market trading for CATI.

Several other Telegram games are also planning token launches later this month, including Rocky Rabbit with its RabBitcoin (RBTC) token on September 23 and Hamster Kombat launching HMSTR on September 26, both on TON. These launches mark a significant milestone for the Telegram crypto gaming ecosystem, which gained momentum earlier this year with the release of Notcoin. The Open Network's growth has paralleled this rise, but concerns remain about its capacity to handle the expected surge in demand following these token launches and airdrops, especially after experiencing some downtime in late August.
