**News Flash: Mt. Gox Moves $2.5 Billion in Bitcoin**
Defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox has just transferred 37,477 Bitcoin, valued at $2.5 billion, to an unknown wallet. This transaction occurred at 4:53 am UTC on July 24, according to Arkham Intelligence.
- Of the total, 5,106 BTC were moved to a separate cold wallet owned by Mt. Gox.
- This follows a $2.8 billion transfer on July 22, with $340 million sent to Bitstamp-associated wallets.
Bitstamp is one of the five exchanges assisting Mt. Gox in returning funds to creditors. So far, only 40% of the Bitcoin owed has been distributed, leaving $5.6 billion yet to be returned.
Despite concerns of a mass sell-off, analysts suggest the impact may be minimal. Many creditors are expected to hold onto their Bitcoin, and some believe the market has already accounted for this potential influx.
