Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has criticized Donald Trump’s security detail over the recent attempt to assassinate the former U.S. President. Hoskinson accused them of negligence, noting that they knew of the threat ahead of time but failed to take precautions.

According to Hoskinson, Trump’s detail knew there was a suspicious person on the roof ten minutes before the former president’s speaking schedule and still let him go on stage without clearing the individual. He described it as misconduct bordering on criminal.
Meanwhile, the Cardano founder highlighted that any executive protection detail would not let the principal enter an area with a potential threat. According to Hoskinson, the detail would bypass the process or hold the principal in a secure location under such circumstances. While Hoskinson did not criticize the security detail for not reacting after Trump started speaking, he noted the former president was in a secure location ten minutes before, claiming they knowingly moved him into a potentially harmful location.
In a recent post on X, renowned U.S. journalist Alana Mastrangelo recounted the notable moments when law enforcement officers spotted and tracked Thomas Matthew Crooks, the eventual Trump rally shooter. Mastrangelo cited several moments when the law enforcement officers could have reacted to prevent the shooting.
According to the reporter, it took over three hours between the initial spotting of the shooter by local law enforcement officers and the time he fired the shots at the former president. Mastrangelo noted that besides the local law enforcement officers, the Secret Service spotted Crooks on the rooftop 10 minutes before Trump took the stage but did not stop Trump from taking the stage.
There is an ongoing investigation in the U.S. to find out the full details of the incident after the shooter failed in his assassination attempt but hit the former president in the ear before being killed by law enforcement officers.
