In the ongoing legal battle over Bitcoin’s creator, the U.K. High Court has released a new judgment and some injunctions in the case involving Craig Wright. Wright has long claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin.

In a judgment released on July 16, Judge James Mellor approved the injunctions requested by COPA. He noted that these injunctions seem to be based on a combination of the issues from each of the five related cases.

Judge Mellor’s Ruling on Craig Wright’s Injunctions

Judge Mellor stated that the first injunction should allow Dr. Wright to use the grounds of the injunction as part of his defense, but not to file a counterclaim. This first injunction involves an anti-suit order preventing Wright from trying to relitigate the case.

Regarding the second injunction, Judge Mellor decided that Dr. Wright and his companies are prohibited from threatening or encouraging anyone else to threaten that any Precluded Proceedings will be pursued in court.

The third injunction aims to prevent Dr. Wright or his companies from asserting any rights based on the grounds detailed in the first injunction.

The fourth injunction forbids Dr. Wright or his companies from publishing or promoting any claims that he is Satoshi Nakamoto or the author of the Bitcoin White Paper or source code.

The fifth injunction mandates that Dr. Wright and his companies must remove all such published statements. Additionally, Dr. Wright is ordered to cover all of COPA’s costs on an indemnity basis, with interest calculated from the payment date. Judge Mellor set an 85% threshold for the interim COPA payment and referred Wright to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to consider perjury charges.

OPA took Wright to court to determine his claim as Bitcoin’s creator. In March, Judge Mellor concluded that Wright was not the creator of Bitcoin, and in May, Wright was found to have lied extensively during the court process.
