Important Regulatory Update for Nigerian Users: VAT on Transaction Fees

KuCoin, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has announced an important regulatory update affecting its users from the Republic of Nigeria. Starting from July 8th, 2024, KuCoin will implement a Value-Added Tax (VAT) at a rate of 7.5% on transaction fees for users whose KYC information is registered in Nigeria.

How It Works

The VAT will be applied specifically to the transaction fees in each trade, rather than the transaction amount itself. This regulation will cover all transaction types on the KuCoin platform.

Example Calculation

Transaction: Buy 1,000 USDT worth of BTC

Fee: 1 USDT (0.1% fee rate)

Tax: 0.075 USDT (7.5% of the fee)

Net Amount for Transaction: 998.925 USDT

Key Points to Note

The VAT rate is 7.5%.

The VAT is applied to the transaction fees only.

This regulation comes into effect on July 8th, 2024.

All transaction types on the KuCoin platform will be subject to this VAT.

KuCoin has expressed appreciation for its users' understanding and cooperation as it adheres to these new regulatory requirements. For any questions or further assistance, users are encouraged to reach out to KuCoin’s support team.
