Product development company Kronos Advanced Technologies announced it will accept Shiba Inu (SHIB), the second-largest meme coin by market capitalization, for payments.
Shiba Inu enthusiasts welcomed the move by the company that was founded in 2002 with U.S. military funding to develop electrostatic air movers. An SEC filing stated, “We are thrilled to be the first public company to accept SHIB as a form of payment for our air purification products,” adding:
“Kronos Advanced Technologies Inc., a leading innovator in FDA 510(K) Cleared air purification solutions, is thrilled to announce the acceptance of Shiba Inu (SHIB) cryptocurrency as a new payment method for its state-of-the-art air purifiers.”
Kronos cited “the widespread ownership and popularity of SHIB among cryptocurrency enthusiasts” as the reason for accepting SHIB. The company also noted that as of 2024, there are approximately 1.38 million Shiba Inu (SHIB) wallet holders.
According to CEO Greg Rubin, the decision will help Kronos “cater to the growing demand for alternative payment options.” To celebrate, Kronos will offer a limited-time promotion for customers paying with SHIB.

According to CoinMarketCap, the meme coin is up 4.21%, trading at $0.00001741, 80.34% lower than its 2021 all-time high of $0.00008845. The altcoin has fallen 31.35% in the last 30 days but has increased in value by 129.37% since July 2023.
