Google Cloud Joins XPLA as Volunteer Validator for Crypto Gaming Network
South Korean blockchain network XPLA has chosen Google Cloud as its first volunteer validator. Volunteer validators are responsible for verifying and confirming transactions on the network. In the case of XPLA, the validators won't be rewarded with tokens but instead, the tokens will be distributed to a community pool. The XPLA network is currently voting on the proposal to introduce the volunteer validator feature and has received 100% of votes in favor. XPLA is built on Tendermint and is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Popular games that run on XPLA include The Walking Dead: All-Stars, Summoner’s War: Chronicles, and Ace Fishing: Crew. The network was originally established as C2X but was relaunched as XPLA in August 2022, after the collapse of the UST and LUNA tokens on Terra. Other validators on the XPLA network include Animoca Brands and Gumi. Google Cloud has previously partnered with other blockchain networks, including Solana, Tezos, Aptos, Polygon, and Celo. They have also collaborated with Coinbase to accept cryptocurrency payments and launched their Web3 Startups Program to support crypto firms.
