"Bitcoin halving is an automatic mechanism that prevents new Bitcoins from entering circulation. The Bitcoin protocol performs a "halving" event approximately every 4 years (more precisely, every 210,000 blocks). During this event, the Bitcoin block reward is halved.
The first halving occurred on November 28, 2012, and the block reward was reduced from 50 to 25. The second halving took place on July 9, 2016, and the block reward was reduced from 25 to 12.5. The third halving occurred on May 11, 2020, and the block reward was reduced from 12.5 to 6.25.
"2024 will be the next halving period, and the entire crypto world is currently focused on 2024."
