According to BlockBeats, a majority of economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates by 25 basis points in September. This forecast contrasts with some major Wall Street banks that anticipate a more significant rate reduction at the next meeting.
Nearly four-fifths of the survey participants predict that the Federal Reserve will lower rates to a range of 5% to 5.25% during the meeting scheduled for September 17-18. The remaining economists expect a larger rate cut. The median forecast among economists also indicates only a 10% chance of the Federal Reserve adjusting rates before the scheduled meeting.
The consensus among economists is that the Federal Reserve will opt for a 25 basis point rate cut in the meetings scheduled for September, November, and December of this year, as well as in the first quarter of 2025. The survey, conducted from August 6 to 8, included 51 economists and took place amid a global market sell-off.
