US Space Force Major Jason Lowery believes that Bitcoin can play a strategic role in national defense. His book ‘Softwar’ proposes a US Bitcoin National Defense policy to use Bitcoin as a powerful tool for securing cyberspace and reducing the need for human life in defending monetized wealth. Lowery says that Bitcoin’s Proof-of-Work mechanism can provide cyber sovereignty by physically securing information in a trustless, peer-to-peer manner.

He argues that the Department of Defense needs to be more proactive in exploring the cybersecurity benefits of Bitcoin. Lowery also stresses the importance of policymakers understanding the differences between Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies. He suggests that the US should hold more Bitcoin as a strategic reserve and recommends building a robust hashing industry, named the “U.S.

Hash Force.” Lowery believes that Bitcoin could create a peaceful power balance called “Mutually Assured Preservation.” By reframing Bitcoin as a strategic asset, he hopes to influence policymakers and defense agencies to take action.
