A user mistakenly transferred 499,000 USDT to Tether; now the tokens are lostđđ
Apparently, the crypto user copied the wrong link and mistakenly sent half a million dollars to Tetherâs smart contract.
The individual is extremely lucky that Tether is a centralized platform, and heâll likely get his money back. If he had transferred, say, ETH to an Ethereum smart contract, it would have been no laughing matter.
To avoid getting into such situations:
âȘïž Check every digit in the recipientâs address when sending large sums. Itâs worth doing this.
âȘïž If you are interacting with a certain wallet for the first time, send a minimum transactionâe.g., 1 USDTâfirst to make sure that everything works properly.
Donât forget: Due to the decentralized nature of blockchains, if you send coins to the âwrongâ place, youâre unlikely to to get them back.
Stay vigilant!
