Glassnode, an analytics platform, reports weekly that the number of Bitcoin addresses in use has decreased significantly. Also, a record high number of transactions occurred simultaneously.

One measure that keeps tabs on the daily participation of addresses in blockchain transactions is the Bitcoin Network Active Addresses. There are a lot of people using the network, so this number is comparable to that.

The chart shows that the 30-day moving average (MA) of Bitcoin addresses that are currently active has decreased significantly over the last several months. Fewer and fewer users should be making purchases online as a result of this. The dramatic increase in the number of transactions during that time makes this seem implausible.

There were nearly record-breaking 612,000 transactions per day on average over the past 30 days. That is, although there are fewer active addresses overall, the amount of transfers made by each of them has grown substantially.
