According to Foresight News, the Seoul Local Cyber Crime Prosecution Office's Cyber Crime Investigation Department has successfully recovered a deleted cryptocurrency wallet. The wallet, which was involved in a fraud case, contained Ethereum valued at approximately 7.6 billion Korean Won, or around $5.6 million.
The prosecutors allege that a programmer, identified only as 'An', defrauded 156 victims between January and February 2019. An had reportedly developed a token that was about to be listed on a trading platform, and he managed to swindle investment funds worth 14.6 billion Korean Won (approximately $12 million) from these victims.
In June of the same year, An transferred 1,796 Ethereum to his personal crypto wallet. The gaming platform company he worked for had purchased this wallet for operating a cryptocurrency trading platform.
