A Kentucky man admitted to faking his death partly to avoid paying his ex-wife more than $100,000 in outstanding child support.

According to the plea agreement, Jesse E. Kipf admitted to accessing the Hawaii death registry system in January last year, using the name and password of a doctor living in another state without their consent.

Posing as the doctor, Kipf created a case for his death, assigned himself as the medical certifier for the case, and then proceeded to certify his death.
