According to Odaily, Metaplanet, a publicly traded company in Japan, has announced that its board of directors has approved an investment of 1 billion yen (approximately 6.26 million USD) in Bitcoin. The funds for this investment will be sourced from the proceeds of the company's second issuance of ordinary bonds (secured).
The official announcement revealed that these bonds have an annual interest rate of 0.5%. The interest will be paid on June 26, 2024, and the bonds will mature on June 25, 2025. This move by Metaplanet signifies a growing trend among companies to invest in cryptocurrencies as part of their financial strategy. However, it's important to note that investing in cryptocurrencies carries a certain level of risk due to their volatile nature.
