According to Foresight News, during the 2024 Hong Kong Web3 Carnival, Conflux Co-Founder and CTO Wu Ming delivered a keynote speech titled 'Towards the Ultimate Security, Efficiency, and Customizability'. He revealed that Conflux is currently developing and applying a Layer 3 expansion plan compatible with Bitcoin. Conflux is planning and has already started building the first Bitcoin Layer 3 expansion example, aiming to construct a 'win-win' solution with Bitcoin.

Wu Ming explained that the plan has two advantages. The first is the ability to enhance network security in a spiral manner. In the Conflux network, the current level of network security and decentralization has been achieved through PoS node rotation and the DPSS protocol, to carry a certain degree of BTC assets cross-chain to the Conflux network. At the same time, through the built-in pledge mechanism, BTC asset holders can participate in Conflux's network governance and network security maintenance, thereby enhancing the security of the Conflux network.

The second advantage is the setting of the API for virtual machine services, which separates the Virtual Space from the full node process and places it in an independent virtual machine service process. This creates conditions for third-party teams and developers to deploy new virtual machines on the Conflux network, complete the development process of the Bitcoin network Layer 3, and simultaneously carry out modular expansion of the security mechanism of the Conflux network.

At the current stage, Conflux has planned three main directions for customizable virtual machines: 'Virtual machines of the Move language ecosystem', 'High-performance EVM virtual machines based on parallel technology', and 'Virtual machines supporting AI-enhanced smart contracts'.
