Is the Owner of Peanut the Squirrel a Serial Memecoin Opportunist?
The 34-year-old mechanical engineer turned pornstar, is allegedly involved in multiple memecoin scandals.
Owner of Peanut the Squirrel Faces Accusations Mark Longo meticulously crafted the persona of a warm-hearted animal lover, unfairly targeted by a tyrannical government entity. When Longo’s home was raided by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) agents on October 30, and two of his beloved pets – Peanut the squirrel and Fred the raccoon – were seized and later euthanized, Longo and his pet rodent became viral Internet darlings. The fame gave rise to multiple memecoins in the Solana community, and one named PNUT, amassed, at one point, a $2.27 billion market capitalization and is currently listed on two of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges – Coinbase and Binance. Longo recently issued a cease-and-desist letter to Binance, alleging trademark infringement due to the exchange’s listing of PNUT, but few outside of the memecoin community know about Longo’s questionable conduct involving other memecoin projects. “Mark Longo is known as a serial scammer within the crypto community,” said an X subscriber who goes by the name of Theodor von Meme. “He has rug-pulled with scam coins, including one named ‘Justice,’ to exploit the tragedy of Peanut for financial gain. He’s not to be trusted.” While threatening to sue Binance and Coinbase, Longo has been promoting his own Peanut-themed memecoin Justice for Peanut (JFP), launched at the beginning of December. Prior to that, he launched JUSTICE in November, which was flagged by blockchain visualization platform Bubblemaps as a potential “cash grab.” “Mark Longo accused the crypto community of profiting from the death of his squirrel, Peanut. In response, he launched a memecoin, JUSTICE,” the platform said. “This looks coordinated, with strong signs that one person or a small group controls these wallets. Is the owner of Peanut using JUSTICE as a revenge plot or a cash grab? The risks here are too big to ignore.” Even prior to launching the current generation of shady Peanut memecoins, it appears Longo was involved with other animal-themed projects such as Ruby and Jewel, characterized by some as rug pulls. Both coins are named after two goats from Longo’s animal sanctuary. Who is Mark Longo? According to reporting from Sportskeeda, Longo grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut and attended Greenwich High School before graduating from college with an engineering degree. It’s not clear how he transitioned to porn, but it appears he masterfully exploited Peanut to generate traffic that ultimately led viewers to Longo’s OnlyFans account where he’s known as “Squirrel Daddy” and can be seen half-naked on his profile picture with tight-fitting red boxers and the words, “Peanut’s dad, very kinky player,” under the photo. Longo and his wife Daniela appear to be cashing in hand over fist from their Onlyfans porn, telling the New York Post that they bought their 350-acre property near Elmira, New York with $800,000 that they made on the porn site in only one month. The self-proclaimed animal rights victim of what initially appeared to be authoritarian state overreach, may just turn out to be a rich pornstar who doubles as a memecoin opportunist. “Did this do wonders to my Onlyfans?” Longo told the New York Post about Peanut’s online fame. “Absolutely. It’s making a lot of money from this.”
