New ZK Technology Announced! Crypto Will Be Sent to Gmail Account

Another eccentric cryptocurrency implementation on zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) offers a completely new take on Web2 Web3 synergy. With Bonsai Pay, any Google account can be converted into a non-custodial crypto wallet almost seamlessly.

Sending Crypto #Ethereum to #Gmail Account Becomes Possible with ZK

Bonsai Pay by RISC Zero, an open source ZK-powered payment platform designed to enable every Gmail user to receive Ethereum (ETH) payments, has debuted on the Sepolia crypto Ethereum testnet. This is a next-generation way to replace sophisticated Ethereum (ETH) wallet addresses with familiar email contacts.

According to the team, any active Google account is compatible with the service and requires zero additional setup to start receiving #ETH funds.

Technically, cryptocurrency is transferred through an escrow agreement created on the Ethereum (ETH) network. Recipients can retrieve assets from this escrow simply by logging into Gmail and creating a zero-knowledge proof.

JSON-based identity tokens and OpenID Connect Protocol are the technologies supported by the new product. The core code base is written in the Rust programming language. It also leverages the protocol's own virtual machine, called RISC Zero zkVM. Moreover, this tool is available to third-party developers via API keys.

ZK-Backed Projects Are Burning While Ethereum L2s Recover

The live demo of the protocol has been launched on top of Sepolia. The team invites all developers to stress test and share feedback on GitHub.

#ZK-proof, where the prover can prove to the verifier that this or that statement is true. However, it is a cryptographic method in which it avoids revealing any information beyond the accuracy of the statement.

ZK proofs are used in many of the higher-level L2 protocols on top of the crypto Ethereum (ETH) mainnet. Three of these, Polygon zkEVM, zkSync Era and Scroll, showed double-digit increases in #tvl over the last 24 hours.
