A former employee of Binance, a big company that deals with cryptocurrency, said she was fired after telling her bosses about some people taking bribes. Amrita Srivastava, who used to work for Binance in London, made these claims at a special meeting where people talk about such problems. She said a coworker took a bribe while pretending to help another company become a part of Binance.

Srivastava said she had a hard time at Binance and it affected her career. This news comes after reports in May that Binance fired someone who found out that some customers were involved in unfair trading practices. The company thought the evidence against these customers was not strong enough and fired the person in charge of the investigation.

The coworker who took the bribe and left Binance was also pretending not to work for the company. Srivastava worked for Binance from her home using their link platform, which connects other brokers and customers to the exchange. She said she could not ignore the fact that someone had cheated a customer and was still part of the team.

She said taking a bribe and cheating a customer is wrong. Binance said they were aware of these false claims made by Srivastava. The company said she was fired because she did not perform well and her dismissal was decided before she raised concerns about the issue that was already being investigated by their internal audit team.

Binance has strict policies against retaliation and bribery. In her lawsuit against Binance, she said she told her managers about the bribery in April 2023 and was fired a month later. The exchange’s lawyer said the company already knew about the incident and decided to fire her for performance issues.

Srivastava joined Binance in April 2022 after working at Mastercard as the head of fintech coverage for Western Europe. She said she thought her colleagues wanted to “fix” Binance and make it follow the rules. Instead, she said there was a chaotic work environment where there was too much pressure to close deals.
