Court documents reveal that scammers used fake social media profiles to lure individuals into a fraudulent trading platform called Bitkanant. The investigation began in August when federal prosecutors in North Carolina executed a search warrant and seized unescrowd USDT wallets worth more than $4.99 million. The funds are currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
