SEN. JOHN THUNE ELECTED AS SENATE MAJORITY LEADER, CONTINUES SUPPORT FOR CRYPTO LEGISLATION

Sen. John Thune, a Republican from South Dakota and known supporter of crypto-related bills, has been elected Senate Majority Leader.

Thune has backed measures like the Digital Commodities Consumer Protection Act (DCCPA), aiming to legally define digital commodities and place them under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s oversight.

Thune also recently supported a measure to counter the SEC’s Staff Accounting Bulletin No. 121, addressing crypto custody concerns.

His election may influence future crypto policy as the industry seeks regulatory clarity.
