The Ethereum Foundation recently announced the launch of the first short-term Pectra testnet, called Net Mekong. This testnet contains all EIP proposals that will be used for the Pectra fork of Ethereum, including user experience (UX) improvements via EIP-7702, staking changes via EIP-7251, deposit and exit mechanism changes via EIP-6110/EIP-7002, and more.

The primary purpose of the Mekong testnet is to allow wallet developers to experiment with UX improvements and for stakers to familiarize themselves with upcoming changes. The testnet is short-lived and has fully implemented all Pectra planned features. While minor specification changes or smaller EIPs may still be possible, the features included in the Mekong testnet will be integrated into existing public testnets and eventually onto the Ethereum mainnet.
