EigenLayer will distribute 86 million EIGEN tokens in its Season 2 stakedrop, starting September 17. The rewards, representing 5% of its 1.67 billion supply, will go to stakers, node operators, and ecosystem partners. Specifically, 70 million tokens are for stakers and node operators, 10 million for partners, and 6 million for the community.

Despite early growth, EigenLayer's total value locked (TVL) has dropped from $15.7 billion to $11.3 billion. This decline mirrors similar trends in other restaking platforms, driven by falling asset prices and users withdrawing after airdrop campaigns.

EigenLayer hopes the stakedrop will boost participation amid these market challenges.
