• Donald Trump’s chances of winning the 2024 elections soared to 71%, a new high.

  • Trump’s chances of winning in several swing states also reached new highs.

  • The surge in popularity follows an assassination attempt on the former president.

Donald Trump, the former United States President from 2017 to 2021, has a staggering 71% chance of winning the upcoming presidential elections, according to the bets placed on Polymarket, the world’s largest prediction market. While the billionaire’s chances have soared to new highs, current President Joe Biden’s chances have dwindled to 18%.

According to Polymarket, bets totaling more than $250 million have been placed on the prediction platform, with $31.8 million on Trump, $33.6 million on Biden, $16 million on Kamala Harris, and $13 million on crypto-friendly candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

The surge in Trump’s winning chances followed an assassination attempt on the former president on Saturday, where the billionaire narrowly escaped being seriously injured or killed. Notably, an image of him standing with his fists raised with an American flag in the background and blood on his face is going viral, according to a BBC report.

The assassination attempt was condemned by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson, who commented that US politics have become toxic. In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), InteractivePolls reported that Trump’s chances of victory in several swing states have also surged. In Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Arizona, Trump’s chances have soared to 67%, 65%, 61%, and 78%, respectively.

Trump has expressed support for the digital asset community during multiple speeches over the past few months. He also announced that his campaign would accept donations in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and others. Moreover, Trump is scheduled to speak at the Bitcoin 2024 conference—the first time a US president will publicly address the Bitcoin community.

The 45th President of the U.S. has also openly criticized Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and stated that he will not let the Federal Reserve create a digital dollar if elected.
