🔋💡The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is making a second attempt to survey crypto mining companies about their energy usage, after their first try was halted by a lawsuit. This time, they're seeking input from the crypto industry first.

In a public webinar, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) heard from crypto miners, industry participants, and the public on how the survey should be designed. Previously, the mandatory survey was met with outrage from crypto miners, who feared it could create a "hyper-detailed registry of mining operations" in the U.S.

Now, the EIA is considering all options, including the inclusion of traditional data centers in the survey. The preliminary proposal is expected to be published this quarter, followed by a 60-day comment period.

What do you think about this move? Should traditional data centers also be included in the survey? Let's discuss! 🗣️ #CryptoMining #EnergyUsage
