He praised Optimism and Arbitrum for enhancing security and affordability, helping Ethereum become more user-friendly. Previously, high transaction fees were a major barrier to adoption. For example, Buterin once paid over $800 in gas fees for a single transaction. Now, thanks to L2s, fees are under $0.01, and confirmation times have improved, with transactions being confirmed in 5 to 15 seconds. Bitget Partners With LaLiga Bitget has partnered with La Liga, the famous Spanish football league, in a multi-million dollar deal.  This partnership makes Bitget the official crypto partner for La Liga in Eastern Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Announced at the Token2049 event in Singapore, this collaboration marks Bitget’s move into the sports sector. Through this partnership, La Liga aims to incorporate blockchain technology, while Bitget seeks to use La Liga’s global reach to promote crypto adoption. The partnership reflects the growing link between sports and digital assets.  Solana Mobile Unveils ‘Seeker’ Solana Mobile announced its second crypto phone, "Seeker," at the Token 2049 conference. Solana’s first phone, Saga, faced slow sales initially, but interest surged when traders realized they could collect token airdrops worth more than the phone. CertiK Announces Free Security Tools, Launches CertiK Ventures CertiK announced new free security tools, Token Scan and Wallet Scan, during the “New Round, New Path” event at Token2049. These tools aim to help the Web3 community protect their assets by offering essential security features without cost. CertiK’s goal is to make Web3 safer for everyone. CertiK Ventures, launched during this event, will invest $45 million to support emerging Web3 projects. This investment will strengthen CertiK’s role in nurturing high-potential projects across the Web3 ecosystem. With a $2 billion valuation, CertiK is currently the highest-valued Web3 security company. Venture Trio Launches Fund for Aptos Growth MEXC Ventures, Foresight Ventures, and Mirana Ventures have launched a new fund to accelerate growth within the Aptos ecosystem. This initiative aims to support projects building on Aptos, especially those developing essential Web3 use cases.  By focusing on projects utilizing Aptos infrastructure like Block-STM and enabling smooth interoperability with EVM ecosystems, the fund demonstrates strong confidence in Aptos’s potential. Additionally, the Aptos Foundation has partnered with the Ignition AI Accelerator, backed by NVIDIA, Tribe, and DISG, to boost AI startups across the APAC region.  Franklin Templeton and Citi Turn to Solana Franklin Templeton and Citigroup have announced plans to adopt Solana for their financial services. Franklin Templeton, managing $1.4 trillion in assets, plans to launch a mutual fund on Solana. Citigroup is exploring how Solana can help with smart contracts and cross-border payments. These announcements were made at the Solana Breakpoint 2024 event in Singapore, showcasing growing interest from TradFi in blockchain technology. Solana is attractive due to its low transaction costs and ability to handle large transaction volumes, making it ideal for these financial services. Jupiter Increases Product Line Jupiter is expanding its product line by acquiring SolanaFM, a Solana-based blockchain explorer. This acquisition aims to enhance Jupiter's infrastructure and data capabilities, providing users with improved insights and services. SolanaFM, launched in 2021, offers detailed data on Solana’s network, including transaction history, smart contracts, and token information. With this acquisition, SolanaFM aims to boost Jupiter’s data capabilities by tenfold, while continuing its regular operations. Jupiter also announced a new mobile app, Jupiter Mobile, developed in partnership with MoonPay. The app will be fee-free and support payment methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards, making it easier for users to access Jupiter’s services. Iotex Partners With Polygon IoTeX, a decentralized physical infrastructure network, is teaming up with Polygon Labs to enhance its IoTex 2.0 blockchain using AggLayer. The goal is to utilize AggLayer’s cross-chain communication and liquidity sharing.  This integration will allow IoTeX-based projects to distribute rewards and enable users to settle transactions on their preferred chains. The projects explained that this partnership improves cross-chain capabilities and opens new liquidity and scaling opportunities for DePIN projects. Celestia's First Upgrade Goes Live Celestia has launched its first major upgrade, known as the Lemongrass upgrade. Edward Snowden Gives Interesting Speech Edward Snowden spoke at Token2049, emphasizing the ongoing issue of government surveillance. He noted that, despite changes since his exile, surveillance has become more hidden and pervasive. Speaking virtually from Russia, Snowden shared concerns about the recent arrest of Telegram's founder, Pavel Durov, warning it illustrates efforts to control user data. He criticized Telegram's security, stating it's not as safe as many believe.  He urged developers to build resilient protocols to prevent government interference and reaffirmed his support for Bitcoin's privacy features. Iggy Azalea Throws Another Massive Party Iggy Azalea attended Token2049, joining her first-panel discussion on meme coins and branding in Web3.
