😱❓New plan of the man who threw away 7 thousand 500 BTC has been revealed
#JamesHowells , who dumped $768 million worth of #bitcoin in 2013, is planning to buy the landfill after failing to obtain a search warrant.
James Howells, from Newport, South Wales, claims that a disk containing 7,500 Bitcoins that he bought in 2009 when it was undervalued was accidentally dumped in 2013. Howells, who previously claimed that the landfill needed to be searched in order to take it to court, now wants to buy the landfill where he believes the missing Bitcoins are located.
Despite the case being dismissed by a British judge, James Howells wants to buy the landfill where the lost Bitcoin fortune, worth £620 million ($768 million), was found. Howells, who previously went to court and paid Newport City Council for the hard drive, will not try to sell the site to the City Council as a first step.
He will also consider the possibility of obtaining an excavation and recovery permit from the Natural Resources Authority of Wales.
Howells said he wasn’t ruling out launching a utility token or NFT if other options failed. “I’m pretty confident the crypto world will get behind me,” he said.
Speaking to The Block, Howells revealed that he and his partners plan to buy the Newport Docksway landfill outright if the current owners are open to negotiations.
The BBC reported earlier this month that the landfill is set to close in 2025-2026 and that Newport Council has sought planning permission to convert part of the land into a solar farm. “It’s quite surprising that the council is closing the landfill so early, especially after I argued in the High Court that granting me a search warrant would have a huge negative impact on the people of Newport,” Howells said.
Howells said the value of the missing Bitcoins could exceed $1 billion by 2026 and that he is considering taking the case to the High Court.
