About Verge (XVG)

Verge (XVG) is an open-source blockchain network and cryptocurrency designed to provide users with the ability to send or receive value with a high degree of privacy. It aims to offer completely anonymous cryptocurrency transactions by obfuscating sender and receiver details, including IP and location data.

First launched in 2014 as a fork of Peercoin, called DogeCoinDark, Verge rebranded in 2016. The rebrand was decided upon to distinguish the platform and its associated coin, from DogeCoin, to which it claims no relation or connection.

While the start of the Verge blockchain project was made possible by a fork of Peercoin originally, the Verge community now asserts the source code for Bitcoin as being the project’s code base.

Unlike other privacy coins or blockchain projects that focus on anonymity, Verge integrates a number of features designed to remove sender and receiver information both on-chain and off-chain.

The Onion Router (TOR) technology is integrated into Verge wallets, providing anonymity at the application layer, in addition to blockchain-based transaction obfuscation. Verge also supports stealth addresses and atomic swaps.

Verge provides users with anonymity through the use of anonymity-focused projects and platforms that include TOR and the Invisible Internet Project (I2P). Moreover, the Verge ledger is public, which makes it possible to view transaction information (but not information related to senders or receivers). XVG price is updated and available in real-time on Binance.

People Also Ask: Other Questions About Verge

  1. What is XVG Used For?

XVG is used as an anonymous peer-to-peer (P2P) payment method and store of value. The XVG price information is available live on Binance.

  2. How Do Network Consensus And Validation Work On Verge?

As a Dogecoin fork, Verge operates by implementation of a Proof-of-work (PoW) consensus method.

PoW is a blockchain consensus model designed to secure the network by the inclusion of a peer-to-peer method in which miners join the network as nodes to validate transactions in the block creation process. Node operators do so in exchange for block reward earned for their effort, which can represent a substantial use of computing power in the process.

  3. Who is the Verge Founder?

Verge was founded by Justin Sunerok in 2014.

  4. What is the Maximum Token Supply of Verge?

The maximum token supply of Verge is limited to 16,555,000,000 XVG tokens. At the time of writing, the circulating supply is 16,514,718,888 XVG coins.

  5. What Makes Verge Different From Others?

Verge integrates a number of anonymity solutions via its network and wallets that are not used in other blockchain-based privacy networks or payment methods. By integrating TOR technology into Verge wallets, Verge aims to provide users with robust anonymity features that provide full privacy at every layer of the Verge ecosystem.
