Donald Trump has promised to release Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht if he is re-elected in November's election.
Known as the first modern darknet market with a Bitcoin-based payment system, Silk Road launched in 2011 and was run by Ulbricht from his personal laptop.
Ulbricht was convicted in 2015 and sentenced to two life terms plus forty years in prison without the possibility of parole.
